Ruston - A North Louisiana College Town

If you are new to our area, here are some facts about Ruston, Louisiana.


  • Ruston, Louisiana is a small college town in North Central Louisiana. 
  • As of 2021 the population of Ruston was 21,506
  • Louisiana Tech University has an enrollment of 11,197 students. 
  • Ruston was founded around the railroad tracks located near the present day downtown
  • I-20 is located about 2 miles north of downtown
  • The Historic Downtown Ruston is a Registered Historic District with the National Register of Historic Places.
  • In 2020 a new and modern sports complex opened with numerous baseball, softball, and soccer fields as well as a tennis complex. 
  • There are several local restaurants in the downtown area
  • Along I-20 there are numerous hotels and chain restaurants. 
  • It gets HOT in August, and the winters are usually mild.   
  • There is a thriving art community.
  • Lincoln Parish Park is a great place for the family to visit.
