SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

 

Acolytes:  Youth, beginning at about eight years of age, may be altar servers, or acolytes during the services of the church. Training is provided twice a year for new acolytes as well as current acolytes who desire to learn new serving duties. Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at

 

Altar Guild:  Parishioners who desire to be responsible for dressing the altar for services and keeping the linens clean, pressed and in good condition.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at

 

Angel Tree:   At Christmas time each year our Redeemer family provides Christmas gifts and food to 4 or 5 needy families.  A Christmas tree is decorated in the church narthex with the names of these families and a suggested gift for each family member.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at

 

Choir:  Serving the church through song is a powerful ministry. Those who would like to participate are so welcomed to join our church choir. Choir practice is on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at the church.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at

 

Ushers/Greeters:  Serve in this ministry at regular Sunday Services and Special Services.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at

 

Eucharistic Ministers:  Eucharistic Ministers must be confirmed adult communicants in good standing. They are licensed by the Bishop upon the recommendation of the Rector. Completion of a Diocesan Training Course is required. The license is issued for a three-year period. Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at


Eucharistic Visitors:  Eucharist Visitors conduct a brief service and administer Communion at the homes or bedsides of shut-ins. In order to participate in this ministry, one must be a confirmed communicant in good standing, at least eighteen years old, selected by the Rector with the consent of the Vestry, complete a Diocesan Training Course, and be licensed by the Bishop.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at

 

Visitation Committee:  Parishioners regularly visit those in our congregation who are shut-ins. Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at

 

Vestry:  Nine members compose the Vestry. Three members are elected each year at the annual meeting in January. Qualifications are electors who shall have been Members of the Redeemer not less than one year.  Vestry meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at


Guild of the Christ Child:  When a child is baptized at the Redeemer, a gift is given to the child. Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at


Daughters of the King:  Open to women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church and desire to undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.  Usually meets 2nd Sunday of each month.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at


Lay Delegates to Diocesan Convention: Four Lay Delegates and two alternate Delegate to Convention of the Diocese of Western Louisiana are elected or appointed as necessary for the annual diocesan meeting in February or March Delegates represent the Church in all matters concerning the Diocesan Convention.  Contact: Church office at 255-3925 or e-mail the church at
